If you’re new to Havana Church of Christ, you may have questions about what our services are like, what to wear and if we offer anything for kids. Here are a few things we hope will help make your worship experience more comfortable and meaningful.
What kind of music is played?
We have a blended style of worship. You’ll hear both familiar hymns and contemporary choruses led by piano, guitar, bass guitar and percussion. We know that people have different tastes in music. And we strive to make worship meaningful to all.
What should I wear?
People come in a variety of styles. Some people will be in suits or dresses, some will be in casual dress, khakis or jeans.
What about communion?
We take communion every Sunday because we believe this is the example of the early church. (Acts 2:42; 20:7) You may pick up your communion cups containing the cracker and the juice as soon as you enter the sanctuary. If you are an immersed believer in Christ, you are welcome to partake, but we ask everyone to examine their heart first and see if they are in a right relationship with Christ. If you do not wish to take communion, simply pass the tray on to the next person.
I’m interested in baptism. What do I need to know?
Baptism is a command of Jesus and it is closely tied to the time a person makes the personal decision to accept Christ as Lord and Savior. We’d love to talk with you about this important step.
Is there a place for my kids?
YES! We place a priority on ministering to youth and kids. We have a fully staffed nursery and primary team who can take care of young children up to age 5. K-4th grade children start out in the adult worship service and are dismissed before the sermon to go to Grow 252 programming. They will have a worship service there geared for their age group.
What about Bible Classes?
We have classes for ALL ages before the worship service, starting at 9 AM. We have five different adult classes, plus youth classes from High School on down through nursery. It’s a great way to get to know people AND to learn more about how the Bible applies to our everyday lives.
How do I join the Havana Church of Christ?
We would love to have you! If you are already a believer in Jesus Christ who has been baptized by immersion, we simply ask that you come during the invitation, and Pastor Bill will introduce you to the congregation. If you have never accepted Christ as Lord and Savior before and have not been immersed, we would welcome you to come forward and be baptized into Christ. Whether you are making a first time decision to follow Christ or just want to transfer your membership here, we encourage you to talk with Pastor Bill to answer any questions you may have.
Next Steps
If you would like to learn more about becoming a Christian, becoming a member, or growing as a believer, we encourage you to talk with one of our pastors or elders. At different times during the year, we have a Church of Christ 101 class, taught by Pastor Bill to let people know more about who we are and what we believe. We also have trained discipleship leaders who are available to meet with you and lead you into a closer relationship with Christ.
